  • Overview

    Vykin Corporation is currently looking for an experienced secret cleared Sr. Systems Administrator to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii.  We are a small defense contracting company that is veteran owned servicing the US Department of Defense.  The successful candidate will receive competitive wages, health plans and the opportunity to join a small company that still believes every employee counts.


    • Plan and coordinate installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance on USAF AOC Weapons System 10.2 systems, which include but are not limited to Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS), GCCS-J, JADOCS, Joint Range Extension (JRE), Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI), MAAPTK and AFATDS.
    • Work with the platform systems engineering team to collaborate on integration of new or existing applications into virtualized server environment and VDI desktops.
      Analyze and troubleshoot system-to-system interfaces using protocol trace tools and diagnostic logs.
    • Coordinate with AOC Weapons System Program Management Office (AOC WS SPO) and other program POCs to keep C2 systems aligned with current AOC WS SPO configuration.
    • Collaborate with cyber security team to mitigate vulnerabilities in C2 applications in both staging and production.
    • Respond to and resolve application performance problems and outages and work with operator community to validate fix actions.
    • Engage vendors to obtain pricing for new hardware/software purchases and maintenance support.
    • Plan software projects, evaluate and manage development of new software and upgrades of existing software.
    • Review system specifications, planning, requirement documentation, and cost factors to ensure needs are properly identified, considered, and constructed within budgetary restraints.
    • Run tests to verify operability and functionality; analyze hardware and software malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems; and recommend acquisition of programs or equipment which will resolve operational problems. 


    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent years of experience) AND a minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience.
    • An Active in-scope secret clearance.

    Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

    • Knowledge of systems integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and methods, and project management principles and methods sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.
    • Ability to quickly learn how to securely integrate legacy DoD line of business applications into modern IT platforms.
    • Ability to creatively solve problems in high-intensity, combat-driven environments where vendor/program support may not be readily available.
    • Knowledge of AOC WS 10.1 systems and how they interoperate with other joint systems (TBMCS, GCCS, MAAPTK, JADOCS, JREAP-C, TADIL-J, JTT, etc..)
    • Knowledge of SQL Basics and SQL Plus. Fundamentals of Relational Database Management.
    • Knowledge of Linux and Windows System Administration
    • Knowledge of Oracle Server architecture, database objects, and managing table-spaces and undo segments.
    • Knowledge of configuration management methods and techniques for integrating information system components sufficient to install and maintain software and hardware, optimize functionality of systems, and diagnose and recover failed systems.
    • Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices covering troubleshooting of complex computer system failures, recovery of systems, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to include hardware and software components.
    • Knowledge of methods and practices involved in the integration of system components sufficient to optimize system performance.
    • Knowledge of new or revised policies, practices, and technical management guidelines to provide advisory services, consultation, technical assistance and training.
    • Ability to work closely with management officials to ensure seamless implementation of systems; identify and anticipate server performance, availability, capacity, or configuration problems; resolve installation problems; identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks; and maintain server integrity and availability.
    • Ability to modify existing systems and relate all aspects of the work to overall system requirements, advise on and implement new technology, and offer alternative approaches in operating systems development and/or problem resolution.
    • Ability to stay well informed on rapidly changing technology to evaluate its possible impact on organization missions and to develop plans to satisfy requirements.


    • Bachelors degree in IT or related discipline
    • MCSA or higher Microsoft certification
    • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
    • Knowledge of Docker, Pivotal Cloud Foundry and other containerized application architectures
    • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
    • Experience in AOC WS 10.1 baseline system administration

    Working Conditions

    The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.  The work location is a government facility located on a military installation in Oahu, HI supporting a DoD customer.  The successful applicant will be working for and reporting directly to the prime contractor or the DoD customer as appropriate.
