  • Overview

    Vykin Corporation is currently looking for an experienced secret cleared, TS/SCI eligible, Cyber Network Defense Engineer to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii.  We are a small defense contracting company that is veteran owned servicing the US Department of Defense.  The successful candidate will receive competitive wages, health plans and the opportunity to join a small company that still believes every employee counts.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor, analyze, detect, and respond to cyber events and incidents.
    • Support dynamic cyber defense and deliver operational effects, such as intrusion detection and prevention, situational awareness and data spillage. 
    • Maintain a secure cyber environment through configuration management, administration, and response actions.
    • Analyze network defense systems such as IDS/IPS, SIEM and firewalls.
    • Provide Computer Network Defense Service Provider (CNDSP) support.
    • Provide operation and maintenance and field support to Linux based servers.
    • Create, document and maintain network architecture (logical and
    • physical network diagrams) of current existing networks.
    • Recommend sensor placement on networks to best monitor traffic and data flow capture.
    • Provide recommendations on where to route data
    • Test systems, networks and firewalls for vulnerabilities.
    • Supervise and manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
    • Optimize system operation and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
    • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using business systems.
    • Coordinate efforts of regional cyber defense teams and provide timely updates to senior leaders.
    • Provide work leadership to team members.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Master's degree in a related field (or the equivalent years of experience) 
    • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience to include four (4) years of hands-on operational security experience
    • An active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
    • DoD 8570 IAT level II compliant (e.g. CompTIA security+)

     Preferred skills/experience:

    • Palo Alto, HBSS/ePO,  ACAS, Splunk, Firepower/Sourcefire, network design, SIEM Tuning, CSfC technologies, ASA, IPsec and PKI, 802.1x, Windows hardening, Linux admin and hardening.

    Working Conditions

    The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.  The work location is a government facility located on a military installation in Oahu, HI supporting a DoD customer.  The successful applicant will be working for and reporting directly to the prime contractor or the DoD customer as appropriate.
