Overview

Vykin Corporation is currently looking for an experienced Top Secret cleared Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.  We are a small defense contracting company that is veteran owned servicing the US Department of Defense.  The successful candidate will receive competitive wages, health plans and the opportunity to join a small company that still believes every employee counts.

Responsibilities

Designs, installs, modifies and maintains local area networks (LANs). Responsible for troubleshooting and making necessary adjustments in network operating system, software and hardware. Works with other staff to design, develop, install, test, debug, modify and maintain distributed processing databases on the LAN. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts.
  • Maintains system documentation.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • May program in an administrative language.
  • Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
  • Provides advice and training to end-users.
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • May serve as a technical team or task leader.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Patches and updates multiple client and server operating systems to Department of Defense guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with Microsoft Windows based servers and devices.
  • Develops scripts and tools to automate and improve user support activities.
  • Provides administration to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) systems.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a related field (or the equivalent years of experience) AND a minimum of two (2) years of related systems administration and analysis experience
  • An active in-scope Top Secret clearance with the ability to be sponsored and obtain a TS/SCI clearance

 

  Preferred:

  • TS/SCI clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ certification preferred (required within 6 months)

Working Conditions

The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.  The work location is a government facility located on a military installation in Honolulu, HI supporting a DoD customer.  The successful applicant will be working for and reporting directly to the prime contractor or the DoD customer as appropriate.
