Vykin Corporation is seeking an experienced Accountant I -  Payroll Specialist for our Tampa, FL office with excellent skills, a strong work ethic, self-assurance and a high sense of integrity, confidentiality and honesty. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will share responsibility for payroll processing, administrative accounting duties such as reviewing, coding and processing accounts payable and expense reports, credit card reconciliation, timekeeping administration and invoicing  for professional services (labor hours).  Vykin Corporation is a government subcontractor, therefore, familiarization with accounting and finance methods in accordance with GAAP and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is a plus.

 

Essential Payroll responsibilities:

  • Accurate preparation and submission of semi-monthly payroll using current timecard and accounting system – includes various contracts with different earn code requirements within in the continental US and outside the US
  • New hire data entry into accounting system
  • Consistent review of timecards and timecard system maintenance
  • Prepare payroll reports to include paid time off and holiday balances
  • Communicate with third party payroll provider
  • Manage paid time off and holiday tracking systems
  • Work independently to resolve issues

Essential Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Review, code, and process payable invoices
  • Review, code, and process indirect/direct employee expense reports
  • Distribute, code, and enter company credit card account reconciliations
  • Maintain timekeeping and e-expense system
  • Occasional filing and special projects including archiving prior year’s accounting records
  • Reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepare invoices for professional services

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting/finance, or similar field, OR the equivalent years of professional related experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in payroll processing
  • A minimum of six months experience in accounting 
  • Effective problem solving and trouble shooting skills with ERP systems
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with emphasis placed on accuracy and diplomacy
  • Accustomed to a team environment with transparency and accountability
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a US government clearance (if needed)

 

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems (JAMIS or CostPoint systems preferred)
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage laws
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint 

Working Conditions

The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The work location is Tampa, FL.
